Roads and Bridges Magazine’s  Top 10 Roads list recognizes the best roads in the United States, taking into account the project’s challenges, impact to region, and scope of work.  Built by Eastside Corridor Constructors, a joint venture between PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. and Granite Construction, the SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV project was named one of the Top 10 Roads by Roads and Bridges magazine.

The Belarde Company was proud to be a subcontractor on the project installing plazas, stamped concrete, sidewalks, curbs, benches, walls, and PCC paving on the decks and transit stations on the SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV project.

The project, which ranked #7 on the list, widened 2.5 miles of roadway along the SR 520 corridor, which connects Seattle and Eastside communities like Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond. The expansion, which was necessary to accommodate the region’s population boom, included expanding the HOV lanes, improving transit stops, constructing direct access interchanges for transit and HOV, and building three landscaped freeway bridge structures, called lids. These improvements are expected to provide greater mobility for all SR 520 travelers, including drivers, transit commuters, bicyclists, and pedestrians.  To see the Roads and Bridges article and to see the other winning project click here: Roads and Bridges Magazine’s  2016 Top 10 Roads
