Tacoma, WA – Work has begun for the Belarde Company on the Point Defiance Waterfront Project on Point Ruston.  The site is the location of the former Asarco copper smelter that was closed in 1985 and became one of the largest Superfund sites in the U.S.  After decades of remediation that site is now being transformed into what will be a showcase waterfront park for Tacoma Metro Parks.  The Belarde Company will be installing concrete paths, stairs, and plazas throughout the 11-acre site.
