Seattle, Washington – John Belarde, Founder of the Belarde Company was honored at the AGC of Washington’s Annual Convention as an honoree of the 2018 Speciality Contractor of the Year Award. John is being recognized for his work on behalf of disadvantaged-business enterprises. As a DBE contractor, John is open, honest and vocal about the challenges of working as a DBE contractor in the State of Washington.
As a member of the AGC Board of Trustees and a member of the Diversity Task Force, John’s willingness to share in shaping the discussion about DBE firms.
One of John’s goals is to have DBE contractors invited to bid on all jobs — not just when they are required by contract.
